Meet The Team

Kaylin Perez
(violin)
Violin, Viola & piano.
Began studying the violin at age eight and was admitted to the Florida Youth Orchestra the same year. She is currently Principal First Violin of the FYO Symphony and First Violin of its chamber quartet, and previously served as Concertmaster of the Miami Art Studio Orchestra. She made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall at age ten and has won over 40 awards, including the Charleston International Violin Competition. In 2025, she co-founded the Whimsical Ensemble, dedicated to music therapy, and has received recognition from the Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Katherime Perez
(cello)
Cello & Piano
Began learning piano at age 6 and is now at professional level 8. She started learning cello at age 12 and was accepted into the Florida Youth Orchestra that same year. She currently plays cello in the Florida Symphony Orchestra and the American Heritage Orchestra. She has won third place in the Opus National Competition and the Charleston International Music Competition. In 2025, she and her sister founded the Whimsical Ensemble, serving in community hospitals and nursing homes, and have received numerous awards from hospitals.

Zibo Nie
(viola)
9th grade student with a wide range of hobbies. He has won awards in various competitions and loves string instruments. Winner of both violin and viola. His name frequently appears on the awards lists of major tournaments, including ensemble first place and multiple second places at the state's largest competition, FFMC. He has also performed with FYO, the state's largest youth orchestra, for 5 years. Today, he is the deputy principal of the cellist orchestra. He has a kind heart and excellent organizational skills, and has repeatedly organized the orchestra to perform in major hospitals, nursing homes and various events, which have received great reviews. He is determined to dedicate his life to public welfare.

Xingnuo Wang

Outstanding student in the 8th grade. From a young age, he has demonstrated exceptional talent in various fields, including sports, music, and art, and has won numerous awards. He began learning the cello at a young age and was selected by Florida’s largest orchestra, FYO, to become a cellist in the orchestra. He has now served for three years, being recognized as an outstanding cellist each year and promoted to a higher position in the orchestra. He has also achieved top marks in both ensemble and solo performances in the most competitive string music competition in Florida, FFMC. He is a key member of multiple orchestras and is passionate about performing for charitable causes, traveling to various nursing homes and hospitals to give benefit performances, which have garnered him a loyal audience. He has received numerous thank-you letters and accolades from the nursing homes. He promises to do his utmost to help anyone in need.

Julie Ye
(violin)
American Heritage Student. Concert Master for the American Heritage School Orchestra. Concert Master at the 2026 All-State Orchestra. High School Beaux Art full scholarship.

Jayden Cheng
(cello)
9th-grade student at American Heritage Schools and an accomplished young cellist. He has been selected for the Florida All-State Orchestra for three consecutive years and has performed at numerous cultural and academic events, including the AIESEP International Conference, the Tampa Bay Gasparilla Music Festival, the Tampa Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Festival, the Tampa Bay Chinese New Year Spring Festival, and the Tampa Bay Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival

Andrew Chen
(violin)
Seventh grade student. Plays first violin at his school orchestra and second violin in the Florida Youth Orchestra. He has shown remarkable musical talent from a young age, obtaining prizes in various competitions, including 2nd place at the 2025 OPUS State Competition. He received honorable mention at the FFMC competition and excelled in regional solo and ensemble performances, winning numerous awards. He is passionate about philanthropy and has regularly performed at nursing homes, earning accolades from these institutions.

Dr. Huang has gracefully accepted the arduous task of leading these young talented musicians and help them achieve new levels of musical excellence!

Ossie Perez
(Manager)
CEO at Sunny Road Driving School, has worked with teenagers for over 18 years. Founded the Whimsical Ensemble out of passion for the arts and a desire to provide a venue for young musicians to share their talent.
